Weather data by Open-Meteo.com

How to Use

TheWeatherArena.com lets you:

  • Compare weather variable data among multiple city locations. And
  • In addition, it can highlight values based on custom matching rules of your choosing.

You can define up to 2 sets of rules for highlighting. Each set of rules have a different highlighting color for conveniently spotting the matching values.

Start Page

You can start in 2 ways:

  • Simply type to search a city name, and click one of the options provided in the results. Or
  • Click one of the examples.

A new arena is automatically created. If you chose your own location, the arena configuration will contain that location and several default weather variables. Otherwise it will contain the example locations and variables.

You will be redirected to the Arena Page. There, you will see the forecast values for the next few days for these locations.

Arena Page

Your Rules Section

This section shows you the current configuration used to pull the data.

Feel free to edit the configuration by clicking the "EDIT" button. You can add more locations via searching, or remove existing.

Similarly, you can modify what weather variables to be included.

In the "Custom Highlighting" part, you can define highlighting rules for the data. The highlighting works as follows:

  • Highlighting is shown per location, per date. It will emphasize table cells with data that matches your rules.
  • Data needs to match all rules of a ruleset to trigger highlights.
  • You can toggle highlighting display by clicking the colored, round dot tag of each ruleset.

Arena Section

The arena section shows weather data over the next few dates.

You can choose two kinds of display grouping to better compare the data.

  • Group by Variable: Each grouping section displays data of different locations of the same variable, over dates.
  • Group by Location: Each grouping section displays data of different variables of the same location, over dates.

Misc Features

There are a few other features for your convenience:

  • "Preset": optionally load predefined configurations. Locations are untouched.
  • "Unit": displays the current value units (C if metric, and F if imperial). Click this button to toggle between the two unit systems. All data display and highlighting rule values will be updated to match the new unit, if two systems have different units.
  • "Share": displays the option to copy link to this arena. You can revisit the same configuration using this link. Anyone with the link can edit the arena.
